About the event

How would you stop a life-threatening bleed if you had to?

The 3 hour Bleeding  Control Course focuses on:

  • The immediate response to bleeding
  • Recognise life-threatening bleeding
  • Appropriate ways to stop the bleeding
  • Direct pressure
  • Wound packing
  • Tourniquet application

It takes two and three minutes to bleed to death from a catastrophic bleed!

The average ambulance response could be 8 minutes in an urban area, even longer in rural and remote areas.

The help given by an immediate responder can often make the difference between life and death, even before professional rescuers arrive.

Bleeding is the number one cause of preventable death from trauma worldwide. The greater the number of people who know how to control bleeding in an injured patient, the greater the chances of surviving that injury.
