About

The PHTLS course, or Prehospital Trauma Life Support, is a comprehensive training program designed to equip prehospital healthcare providers with the knowledge and skills necessary to manage trauma patients effectively. It covers a wide range of topics, including: Initial assessment and management of trauma patients: This includes airway management, breathing, circulation, and neurological assessment. Advanced life support techniques: This covers topics like chest decompression, needle thoracostomy, and advanced airway management. Trauma-specific injuries: The course delves into the management of specific injuries, such as head injuries, spinal injuries, and abdominal injuries. Trauma systems and patient transport: It emphasises the importance of effective communication and coordination within the trauma system. PHTLS is widely recognised as the gold standard for trauma education and is essential for anyone involved in the prehospital care of trauma patients. To be awarded the PHTLS Provider certification, you must attend a skills assessment day (date and time arranged with the student) and complete the following multi-choice question examination. The exam comprises 50 MCQ questions, and the pass mark is 75%. Good luck!
